New Kid on the Blog

So I had the big idea of blogging every day - which would be something of a revolution considering I've only managed to blog about three times in the last year, but as you may have noticed, it's January 2nd, so I've already missed that boat... So I'm going to try and blog every day I am at work and in the office. If that happens it'd be a minor miracle, but am setting my sights high and hoping to share some thinking, some music, some art, some words which I hope will reflect a little of the life that is happening here in Victoria, BC, particularly at the Anglican Church of St John the Divine and in my own journey. Let's see how that goes. So, all best wishes for the new year in the Gregorian Calendar, may your 2020 be a place of growth, love, hope, and joy.

Well, here we are two weeks into the New Year and all I have managed to post is a YouTube vid with a whisky drinking Minister!  I'm glad I didn't make blogging a New Year's Resolution or I would have failed miserably already.  In fact I made no New Year's Resolutions, the reasons for which can be heard here - I would hope that sense of new life, of change would be a part of the daily walk of every Christ-follower. But I've already said that, so I don't need to repeat myself, not that this normally stops me... So here we are two weeks of 2011 gone and I wonder how the promise and hope for the New Year is doing!  I find myself in a strange position - both excited and anxious about the coming year.  Excited because I have a sense of anticipation for the coming months, not one I can explain but a sense that something is happening and that it might even be good!  Anxious because these kind of things need vision and hard work, which means some letting go and some se...

So all that time I though I would have for reflection and writing has zipped by, only to filled with the joy of family and lots of fun - so no regrets! Before I get to the next year though, I thought I should stop by and wish you all 'Happy New Year'  I hope 2011 is a good one for you and yours.  God bless, and I will leave you with my thought for the New Year from the Midweek Herald.... Wow, the end of 2007 has flown by and things have been completely manic around here, the various bouts of illness (which eventually overtook all four of us here at the Rectory) combined with some unexpected pastoral events along with a lot of Christmas activity left me as near to complete exhaustion as I have ever felt. It just seemed to be relentless! A few days away have helped, though my hoped for week off hasn't been possible and having worked a couple of extra days after Christmas day I find I have to go back tomorrow to get some things sorted out... no rest for the wicked! But before I amble off to my bed I wanted to wish you all the best for the New Year, may 2008 be a better year than 2007 for all of you. thanks for the good wishes and the various comments over my couple of weeks of complete absence from the blogging world, I really appreciate it.
